N10billion scandal: Group demands probe of Adeosun, National Assembly, others April 29, 2018 Premium Times Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun A non-governmental organisation has demanded investigation into the alleged N10 billion scandal involving the National Assembly, Minister of Finance, and the Accountant General of the Federation. Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA) Resource Centre made this demand in a petition signed by its chairman, Olanrewaju Suraju, to the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu. PREMIUM TIMES had exclusively reported how the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, released the sum to the National Assembly outside its N125 billion budget, and how the lawmakers spent it on exotic cars and other items. Taking its cue from the report, HEDA stressed the need for the anti-graft commission to investigate the alleged fraud.

Hundreds of worshippers with various inscriptions on placards demanded an end to the killings which are allegedly being carried out by herdsmen. They also demanded the prompt release of Leah Sharibu, the kidnapped Dapchi girl still in the custody of Boko Haram. The Senior Pastor of the church, Festus Olatunde, accused the federal government of not doing enough in arresting the ugly situation that has led to the loss of lives and properties in major places like Benue. He particularly frowned at the killing of worshippers in a Catholic‎ Church last week. He said:

Only five per cent of the electorate turned out in an exercise that required 51 per cent majority to succeed. Of the 189,870 signatories, only 18,742 were verified after Saturday’s exercise. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, which obtained the forfeiture order on behalf of the Nigerian government, claimed that the defendants obtained N3.5 billion from the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) by making false claims.
