Mr. Fayemi’s resignation, which was approved by the President, is to enable him contest the July 14 Ekiti State Governorship election for which he is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The Minister announced his resignation at a valedictory press briefing held at the Ministry’s conference room. He also used the occasion to give accounts of his stewardship in the ministry which he headed for two and a half years, admitting that the sector has indeed met its set goals of increasing its contribution to the national GDP. BREAKING: APC Reps member formally defects to PDP May 30, 2018 Nasir Ayitogo House of Reps Relat Jigawa A member of the House of Representatives who represents Kachia/Kagarko federal constituency, Adams Jagaba, has formally defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The Kaduna lawmaker in a letter read on the floor of the House by the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, cited injustice and continued suspension from the APC as his reason for defecting to the PDP. PREMIUM TIMES reported that Mr. Jagaba  had dumped the APC  after the party announced his suspension. He also described the APC as a sinking ship.
