GOVERNMENT OF IMO STATE PRESS RELEASE Uzodinma Appoints a new Account-General Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has appointed Mr. Obieze Valentine Chukwukama as the new Accountant-General of the state. Chukwukama takes over from Mr. Donald Igbo and the appointment is with immediate effect according to a letter from the Office of the Principal Secretary to the Governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Irene Chima. The letter dated March 30, 2020, reads: “I am directed to inform you that His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Governor of Imo State has approved the appointment of Obieze Valentine Chukwukama as the new Accountant-General of Imo State. On Monday, the teams monitoring the various market locations since Sunday witnessed that the popular Ekeukwu market in the heart of Owerri was largely deserted, with only pockets of street traders at Ekeonunwa and School Road axis. The entire Douglas Road, usually over-run by street traders was also devoid of any trading activity, with the doors of most shops lining the Road firmly shut. The Governor who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser, Mr. Oguwike Nwachuku assured Imo people of a healthy and clean environment stating. “Imo people must have an environment that guarantees their good health, that’s the only way that a prosperous state can be assured.”   He extolled the Mobile Courts for doing their job as over 100 defaulters were being tried as the exercise was going on.   Mr. Nwachuku warned that the Government would leave no stone unturned in its quest to sanitize the environment especially now that a lot of diseases are ravaging the nation.
