GOVERNMENT OF IMO STATE
PRESS RELEASE
SUBJECT: GOVERNOR ROCHAS OKOROCHA URGES IMO PEOPLE TO COME OUT ON SATURDAY &  VOTE FOR CANDIDATES OF THEIR CHOICE
-ASSURES THEM ON SECURITY OF LIVES & PROSPERITY
The Governor and Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has urged Imo people who have reached the approved voting age to come out en masse on Saturday, March 9, 2019 to vote for the Governorship and House of Assembly Candidates of their choice without fear of molestation.
The governor said that the appropriate steps have been taken to ensure that the State that has been known for peace over the years would remain peaceful during the Governorship and House of Assembly elections on Saturday.
The governor informed that the Security Agencies in the State have set the necessary machineries in motion to ensure the protection of lives and property and to also ensure hitch-free elections.
He urged the electorate to Conduct themselves in an orderly manner during the elections and advised parents against allowing their children to be recruited as thugs by heartless and over ambitious politicians in the State.
The governor advised Candidates whose only hope of winning in the Saturday’s election is rigging through carrying of ballot boxes and writing fictitious election results to drop such wicked plots in their own interest because they would never succeed and would have themselves to blame if caught.
The governor insisted that the votes of Imo people must count and advised the Imo electorate to shun Candidates who would take the State backward and feed fat on the treasury of the State if elected.
He wishes Imo people rancor-free elections on Saturday.
Sam Onwuemeodo
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor
