GOV. IHEDIOHA ATTENDS RUSSIA-AFRICA ECONOMIC CONFERENCE AND 2019 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE AFREXIM BANK.

In furtherance of the effort to rebuild Imo State, Governor Emeka Ihedioha CON, will lead a delegation on a trade and investment working visit to the Russia-Africa Conference and the Annual General Meeting of the AfrExim Bank.

The conference and meetings associated with it, will take place between June 20th - 22nd, 2019 in Moscow, the Russian Federation.

AfrExim Bank is an export - import bank that supports the expansion, diversification, promotion and development of intra- and inter-African trade. The meeting will be a melting pot for international fund custodians, fund managers, investors as well as multi-lateral finance agencies.

The trip is vital in the State’s  matrix to provide out-of-the-box funding for economic and industrial development. By the establishment
of a viable credit line with favorable conditions, promoters of investments in Imo for critical sectors, such as critical infrastructure, technical education, healthcare, recreation and power.

He will be accompanied by a small delegation of key government functionaries, prominent industrialists and entrepreneurs of Imo extraction.

His Excellency will return after attending other key meetings on the side of the conference.

    INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION RELEASES ELECTION CALENDAR FOR 2019 ELECTION YEAR

      The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday, January 9, released the timetable and schedules of activities for the 2019 general elections. INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, said in Abuja that the dates for National Assembly and Presidential elections remain Feb. 16, 2019; while governorship and State House of Assembly elections, will hold on March 2, 2019.   Yakubu said that the conduct of party primaries including resolution of disputes arising from primaries for national and state elections has been slated for between Aug. 18, 2018 to Oct. 7, 2018. He added that the conduct of parties primaries for the FCT Area Council election has also be scheduled for between Sept. 4 and Oct. 27.   Yakubu said that political campaigns by political parties for Presidential Election and NASS elections would commence on Nov. 18 and end on Jan. 14, 2019; while that of governorship and State Houses of Assembly would start on Dec. 1 and end on Feb. 28, 2019.
